Hungarian musicians Mihály Dresch, saxophone and Miklós Lukác, cimbalom made a rare appearance in Washington D.C. yesterday at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. I had to miss the afternoon’s outdoor offering in the festival tent, but stopped by after work to catch their evening performance in front of a small audience in the Baird Auditorium of the Museum of Natural History. Nordic Jazz Festival 2013
This summer brought the 7th annual Nordic Jazz Festival to Washington DC. Most concerts took place at Twins Jazz on U St, featuring bands from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland. As usual, there was a showcase concert with four of the groups at the House of Sweden, as well as a night at the Finnish Embassy.
